Types of insight days

There are broadly 2 types of insight days you could find yourself on:

1. Job role focused

These types of insight days reflect a job shadowing nature, typical activities you could find yourself participating in include:

  • Attending a work meeting e.g. a project meeting to see firsthand a company operates on a daily basis.
  • Employees asking for your opinion on a current project e.g. a new marketing campaign for them to gain a new perspective and allow you to illustrate your potential.
  • Carrying out work activities e.g. ringing clients to test your suitability for a role.
  • Receiving training of some sort e.g. how to sell to test your ability to learn new things.

2. Company focused

These types of insight days focus on the opportunities within an organisation, typically activities involve:

  • Explanation of what the company does and the markets it operates within.
  • Providing opportunities for you to network with current graduates and employees.
  • Receiving inside tips on how to write a CV and complete the application process.
  • Participating in a business challenge to provide you with the opportunity to showcase your skills.

Most insight days typically include a combination of these 2 types to gain the best of both.
